ARTICLE I - MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. Eligibility for Membership
A. Type of District
A member shall be the superintendent of a district that is essentially suburban to a major metropolitan area of 100,000 or more in population. This eligibility requirement may be waived only by the Executive Board.

B. School Population Range
A member shall be the superintendent of a district which shall enroll 3,000 to 20,000 pupils. This eligibility requirement may be waived only by the Executive Board.

C. Educational Staff
A member shall be the superintendent of a district which shall have sufficient curricular and/or research staff to be able to participate actively in educational improvement.

D. Educational Leadership
The organization shall be comprised of suburban school superintendents who have provided leadership in educational research or program development which, in the judgment of the membership, enables them to contribute significantly to a national perspective on suburban schools.

E. Consideration for Selection
Selection shall be based solely upon the strength of the individual superintendent and criteria established in these Bylaws without regard for race, sex, religion, age or ethnic background.

F. A member, though not meeting the above requirements, shall retain membership during incumbency in his/ her current superintendency.

Section 2. Nomination of Membership
Nominations shall be made by a current member and carry the support of at least one additional current member. Nominations shall be submitted to and screened by the appropriate regional committee appointed annually by the Executive Board. more...
